Learning ballet requires patience and continual study over time. Younger students need to understand the demands and expectations of studying ballet in order to prepare themselves for a possible future in dance. Even if students are studying for recreational purposes, they are still expected to develop the necessary decorum and presentation as a dancer.
Your child's teacher is trained to make informed decisions regarding a child's readiness to proceed and will uphold final decisions regarding examinations. Sufficient time is needed along with a positive mental attitude to develop the necessary technical skills and artistic qualities required at any given level.
When and where are exams held?
Grade Exams are usually held at the beginning of Term 3 (July August), with entries closing in May. Specific dates cannot be determined until the RAD receives all entries. The examiner will then visit for the required time, which can be over weekdays or weekends. Exams will be held in either the Braidwood or Bungendore studio.
Vocational Graded Exams are held in Canberra (1 session usually in August) or Sydney (2 sessions in May or October).
